Bookween policy
Terms of Service
Last updated: 24 August 2026
Welcome to Bookween. By creating an account, accessing, or using Bookween, you agree to these Terms of Service.
1. About Bookween
Bookween is a text-first social publishing network built around thoughtful reading, credible publishing, and meaningful discussion.
Anyone may create an account and participate as a reader. Publishing is reserved for members who hold at least one active Bookween verification.
Learn more in our Verification Policy and Content & Publishing Standards.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining accurate account information and protecting your login credentials.
You may not impersonate another person or organization, intentionally misrepresent your identity or professional credentials, sell or improperly transfer your account, or use deceptive automation to manipulate Bookween.
Account activity must also follow our Community Guidelines.
3. Publishing Access
Creating an account does not automatically grant publishing access.
Publishing becomes available when a member is approved in at least one supported Bookween verification category.
If all active verifications associated with an account expire, are suspended, or are revoked, Bookween may suspend future publishing access.
Existing legitimate articles do not necessarily disappear solely because publishing access is suspended, although content or accounts may still be moderated for other policy violations.
See the Verification Policy.
4. Verification
Bookween uses category-specific verification.
A verification badge indicates the category for which a member has been reviewed, such as Author, Physician, Lawyer, Researcher, Video Editor, Designer, or another recognized category.
Verification cannot be purchased.
Verification confirms that Bookween reviewed the member according to the criteria for that category. It does not mean Bookween endorses every claim, article, opinion, product, service, or professional recommendation made by that member.
Bookween may request re-verification or revoke verification where evidence becomes inaccurate, misleading, expired, fraudulent, or no longer satisfies Bookween standards.
See our full Verification Policy.
5. Publishing Standards
Bookween is designed for substantive long-form publishing.
Articles must comply with current publishing requirements, including applicable minimum article length, title limits, originality standards, quality expectations, and formatting rules.
Current standard publishing requirements include:
- Minimum article length: 4,000 characters.
- Article title length: 74-100 characters.
- Bookween may update or introduce category-specific requirements as the platform evolves.
6. Content Rules
You may not use Bookween to publish or distribute sexually explicit or pornographic material, sexual exploitation, content exploiting minors, serious threats, targeted harassment, scams, malicious software, deliberate impersonation, illegal material, or content created primarily to bypass moderation systems.
Sensitive subjects may be discussed in legitimate educational, scientific, medical, historical, journalistic, literary, or public-interest contexts where the content itself is not exploitative or pornographic.
See our Community Guidelines and Moderation Policy.
7. Your Content
You retain ownership of original content you create.
By publishing content on Bookween, you grant Bookween a non-exclusive worldwide licence to host, store, process, reproduce, format, display, distribute, and technically deliver that content as necessary to operate, secure, promote, and improve Bookween.
This licence does not transfer ownership of your work to Bookween.
Copyright rules are explained in the Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy.
8. Professional Content
Verification of a professional identity does not turn every Bookween article into individualized professional advice.
Readers should not automatically treat content as personal medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice merely because the writer holds a corresponding verification badge. Publishers remain responsible for their statements.
9. Social Features
Bookween may provide comments, replies, reactions, follows, bookmarks, messaging, sharing, and other social features.
These features may not be used for harassment, manipulation, spam, scams, artificial engagement, or unauthorized access.
10. Moderation
Bookween may use automated systems and human review to enforce platform policies.
Content may remain private or pending while required moderation checks are completed.
Bookween may limit distribution, reject publication, remove content, suspend publishing, suspend verification, restrict an account, or terminate an account where appropriate.
See the Moderation Policy and Appeals & Enforcement Policy.
11. Intellectual Property
You must have the necessary rights or lawful basis to publish material on Bookween.
Do not publish copyrighted works belonging to others without permission or another lawful basis.
12. Privacy
Use of Bookween is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
You can learn about user-facing privacy choices in Your Data & Controls.
13. Platform Integrity
You may not attempt to bypass authentication or authorization, access another person's private information, exploit Bookween infrastructure without authorization, circumvent verification or moderation systems, artificially manipulate engagement, or interfere with normal platform operation.
Authorized security concerns should be reported through Bookween's support/reporting channels. See Security.
14. Advertising
Bookween may introduce advertising, promoted content, sponsorships, or other commercial formats.
Paid promotion must not be presented as organic editorial content. Verification cannot be purchased through advertising.
15. Suspension and Termination
Bookween may restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts or publishing privileges where necessary to enforce platform rules, protect users, comply with law, or preserve platform integrity.
Where appropriate, users may appeal eligible decisions under our Appeals & Enforcement Policy.
16. Service Availability
Bookween works to provide a reliable service, but uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed. Features may evolve, be replaced, temporarily become unavailable, or be discontinued.
17. No Guarantee of Reach
Publishing access does not guarantee views, followers, search rankings, recommendation placement, engagement, or monetization.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Bookween is not responsible for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special losses resulting from use of the service, user-generated content, interactions between users, or temporary service interruptions.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.
19. Changes to These Terms
Bookween may update these Terms as the platform, services, or applicable legal requirements evolve. Material changes may be communicated through Bookween or other appropriate means.
